At Melanated Minds Online, we create space for Black and Brown children to see themselves, hear their stories, and heal through the power of books.
We are a Black woman-owned educational bookstore dedicated to crafting culturally-rooted, emotionally honest eBooks and paperback books that help melanated children explore real-world issues with care, context, and confidence.
We believe that every Black child deserves to grow up with stories that reflect their beauty, honor their experiences, and equip them for the world, even when the topics are hard. Our books don’t shy away from big conversations. Instead, they open gentle doors to talk about things like:
Losing a loved one to cancer, accidents, or illness
Understanding grief, emotions, and mental health
Exploring Black history, civil rights, and identity
Navigating puberty, friendship challenges, and family changes
We write these stories with empathy, love, and a deep commitment to cultural truth — because these are the stories our children deserve.
We create for:
Pre-K through 5th-grade learners
Parents and caregivers raising emotionally aware, culturally proud children
Teachers, therapists, and homeschool families seeking inclusive resources
Communities that want to normalize healing, pride, and truth-telling
Our Story
Melanated Minds Online was founded by a proud Black mother and grandmother of two brilliant boys with autism. Born from lived experience, love, and a deep understanding of what our children face, this space was built to make education more inclusive, affirming, and liberating, especially for Black children and neurodiverse learners.
Every story we publish is made with intention.
Every page is a tool for healing, learning, and growth.
